Since the 1980's, the Bay Area has held it's own special place in hip hop music. In the same way that New York City is known for boom bap, and Atlanta is known for trap, the Bay Area is known for Hyphy. When rapper E-40 released his single "Tell Me When To Go" featuring Keak Da Sneek, it exposed much of the world to sub-culture that had already been growing for decades.
Hyphy not only became known as a sub-genre of hip hop, but a movement that included signature dances like "ghostriding the whip". Bay Area artist Mac Dre (who is known by natives as the founder of the movement) was not as universally known as E-40 was, but his most popular song titled "Thizzle Dance" is known as a Bay Area classic. With our latest sample pack, "Telegraph Theater", we pull on the classic sound of Oakland hip hop, but even more-so from the influence of newer Bay Area artists like SOBxRBE, whose standout track "Paramedic" was recently nominated for a Grammy as apart of the Black Panther Soundtrack.
For our first release of 2019, we crammed Telegraph Theater with 370 megabytes of new sounds ready for instant use. This is our first Melodic Loop sample pack to feature drums. With 6 hi-hats, 10 kicks, 5 percussion sounds, 14 snares, and 5 hi-hat loops, the complete production experience is nearly at your fingertips. We offer these drums alongside 10 different Melodic Loops, with stems for each loop (which adds up to 62 loops in total!). As always, we have provided one-shots for each chord in every loop. Much in the way of Hyphy music, Telegraph Theater is very synth heavy (51 one-shots), but we have found a way to include piano (12 one-shots), and guitar (7 one-shots) to complement the synth heavy sound. All in all, Telegraph Theater features 70 one shots, 67 loops (drums included), and 35 drum hits. For a more in-depth look at this pack, check out the demos above:
Telegraph Theater offers the producer everything they need to create authentic Bay Area hip hop. Coming in at almost 400 megabytes of sounds, there is surely no limit to how creative you can be with this sample pack.
