Additive vs. Subtractive EQing has been a long-standing debate amongst many producers and engineers. In this video, Maxim will explain how each of them serve a different purpose and why neither of them are superior over the other.
Different scenarios where you’d use additive EQing over subtractive – and vice versa – will be demonstrated. Maxim associates additive EQ with “enhancement” and subtractive EQ with “clarity”.
These are interesting correlations that can help you understand when to use each type and will be explored further throughout the video!
