Groove3 Cubase: Programming Realistic Drums Explained TUTORiAL

Getting tired of trying to record great-sounding drum tracks at home? It's certainly not an easy task. In this Cubase video course, Cubase expert Gary Hiebner walks you through the process of building a virtual drum track that sounds 100% authentic and mix-ready professional. From selecting and tweaking sounds to programming, editing, quantizing, creating multiple outputs, and more, you'll learn all you need to know to get awesome results. By the time you're through with this Cubase course, you'll be completely ready to start programming your next drum track right away! These Cubase videos are designed for Cubase users who'd like to start using virtual drums.

Gary begins by showing you how to add drum instrument tracks with a MIDI part or pattern. You'll also see how to set up your MIDI devices properly and learn the difference between instrument tracks and drum tracks. Then Gary illustrates the differences between the Key Editor and the Drum Editor, showing why and how the Drum Editor is often a better choice when working with drum tracks.

Next, you'll discover how to set up multi-output routing for your drum track, which will allow you to process each part of the kit (kick, snare, toms, etc.) separately with their own effects, etc., and Gary will show you what type of processing is typical in creating a mix-ready drum sound. This is followed by a look at the subject of quantization, which involves the correcting of timing discrepancies in a MIDI performance, and you'll see how it can be applied in varying amounts for a very human feel, a completely robotic feel, or anything in between.

There's plenty more in this Cubase drum programming course as well, including velocities and dynamics, part playability (mimicking a real drummer with regard to writing playable parts), playback probability (settings to control small variations on recalled patterns), the Logic Editor, ghost notes, articulation/dynamics, drum fills, creating your own drum machine, pattern variations, creating your own drum map for third-party drum apps with different mappings, and much more! To finish off the drum programming course, Gary shows you how to create two distinct types of drum tracks - rock and jazz - from scratch.

Without a pro studio, good equipment, and a lot of know-how, getting pro-sounding drums at home isn't easy. Fortunately for Cubase users, it's not necessary. By the end of this video series, you'll be ready to create your own killer-sounding drum track for your very next project. Check out the individual Cubase video tutorial descriptions for more information on everything Gary covers in this drum programming course and how it can transform the way you think about drum sounds and parts. Take command of your drum tracks in Cubase once and for all... Watch "Cubase: Programming Realist Drums Explained®" today!
