The copper panel VX amps and plexi panel MRSH amps defined the british electric guitar tone. The 4x el84 model by VX and the iconic plexi models have been played by countless big names in the music industry. The VX TB50 is far less known, but let me tell you, if there is anything that incorporates the best features of the vintage VX and MRSH models, then this is it. It also sounds bigger, louder and stronger than the coveted MTCH PHNX.
This amp has the power and punch of a 50W plexi MRSH, but having a TB style preamp, it has cleaner and less muffled mids, while having ample amounts of gain. Meanwhile, unlike the EL84 versions, this amp does not have that treble splash of the 30w VX models - it is bigger, smoother and has more bottom end that does not flub out.
While within clean(ish) settings the Briliant channel is distinctly VX - having very crystline qualities, when turned up loud, the mids come out and it gets dirty, big and detailed all at once without getting harsh at the same time.
It has similarities to the MTCH PHNX, but it has more mids, less filtering and sounds looser a bit more vintage. Extremely versatile amp that can do MRSH, VX and MTCH tones justice.
The Normal channel is a godsend for pedals - makes them sound huge and balanced like no other amp we've tried so far. The Normal channel has also stunning cleans and edge of breakup that are bulky, but still very usable (unlike e.g. the plexi style normal channel on its own).
This particular unit is basically untouched, even the electrolytics are original and still going strong.
Some of the users includes: Peter Green, Noel Gallagher, The Beatles (turns out the AC50 and AC100 had way more exposition than the iconic AC30)
The Essential set includes 15 AMP+CAB Tone Models consisting of 6 gain ranges (clean, edge, crunch, dimed, drive, lead) and various EQ settings for the gain ranges (see picture with a full Tone Model list under the product pictures).

Technically it is like a AC30 / AC50 hybrid, but with cathode bias on the EL34 output section, which together with the higher filtering typical for Matchless gives a tighter, stouter sound with loads of dynamics and detail, but nicely rounding out some of the edges that the vintage role...
