London-based house DJ and producer, CASSIMM, can effortlessly craft a dancefloor-ready track within his DAW of choice, Ableton Live. In this course, the Italian artist runs through how he took on the mammoth task of remixing Pasilda by DJ Wady, Sean Finn and MoonDark. The original track is a cover of Afro Medusa’s 2000 track Pasilda, so there is a real history and heritage to the samples used within the track. After garnering support from the likes of Sam Divine, Fisher, Claptone and Mark Knight, it’s obvious that his take on such a classic track was well received.
With over 15 years of experience as an international DJ under his belt, CASSIMM and his music have made quite the mark on the world of house music. With a string of Beatport-charting productions to his name, including the remix he deconstructs in this course, it’s no surprise that he’s one of the most highly regarded and sought after artists in Europe’s house music scene.
Within this course, CASSIMM focuses on two of the most fundamental components of effective dance music: the bass and the rhythm. He also reflects on his approach to remixing and covering tracks in a way that is respectful of the original artists, while breathing new life into an older track to bring it up to speed with modern-day production aesthetics.
CASSIMM’s remix of Pasilda was created in Ableton Live, and so the course is centered around this DAW. The majority of the track is created using audio loops and samples, proving that you don’t need any expensive or complicated equipment or software to create impactful music. In fact, the concepts and approaches demonstrated in this course can be achieved in any DAW with just its own in-built plugins.
With five carefully constructed chapters, this course will deliver all of the knowledge required to remix existing music to the highest possible standard. The remix deconstructed by CASSIMM in this course enjoyed over six months in the Beatport charts, and here, he provides an exclusive in-depth look into how he crafted the hit track using only the original track’s stems, and some additional loops and samples.
