Signature Love Legacy - Vocal Jazz WAV

Signature, Splice’s very own in-house Jazz label, presents Love Legacy - Vocal Jazz. Immerse yourself in the sultry, emotive stylings reminiscent of the style of the legendary Billie Holiday and other jazz vocalists who pioneered and defined an era. This release contains 15 in studio recordings of a jazz quartet accompanying an exquisite vocal performance by world renowned singer and industry veteran Carol Riddick.

Throughout its history, vocal jazz has been characterized by its adaptability, drawing from various musical traditions and styles to create a dynamic and expressive form of art. The Swing era of the 1930s and 1940s specifically had iconic singers like Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday rise to prominence establishing new standards for the genre. The transition into the 1950s and ‘60s made vocalists like Sarah Vaughan and Carmen McRae adapt to the new style, incorporating intricate phrasing and melodic improvisation while the cool jazz movement, with its laid-back and smoother sound, influenced vocalists like Chet Baker and Anita O'Day.

This pack was crafted with original compositions and arrangements written by Christopher Stevens and Marcus Myers (drums). The session was recorded at Turtle Studios in Philadelphia including some of the area’s finest in Donald Robinson (piano), Korey Riker (saxophone), Sandy Eldred (bass) and Carol Riddick (vocals). 

This crew has a resume that is extensive and legendary with Riddick having done everything from touring and performing with the likes of Will Smith and Patti Labelle, to performing and collaborating on grammy winning and nominated albums being featured on records by Anthony Hamilton, Jill Scott, Will Downing, Norman Brown and Eric Bellinger to name a few. Donald Robinson has performed, written, arranged, and produced songs for Grover Washington Jr, Phyliss Hyman, Gladys Knight and many others. Korey has performed and toured with John Legend, Alicia Keys, Queen Latifah and; Seal to name a few. There is no shortage of expertise in this unit and these loops certainly show it.
