Bainz puts his analog gear to the test in this exclusive video series. The recording and mixing engineer joins us from his studio in Los Angeles to deconstruct the mix of a hard-hitting trap anthem by Young Thug. Mixed using a combination of plugins and hardware, you will learn new techniques for integrating outboard equipment into your workflow.
The chart-topping mixer begins with an overview of his hybrid setup. He examines each piece of gear in his collection and explains how each one contributes to his signature sound. These tools are all tethered to a state-of-the-art patch network, which enables him to enjoy all of the benefits of analog without any of the drawbacks.
The engineer enhances the groove and character using tasteful compression, EQ and saturation.
