The Pan flute also known as the "zampoña" or "antara," is an essential instrument in Andean music and throughout Peru, Bolivia, and Ecuador, where it is often played in ensembles with other traditional instruments, such as the charango, guitar, and drums. In Peru, the instrument has cultural and spiritual significance and is believed to have healing properties. It is commonly played at festivals, celebrations, and religious ceremonies, as well as in street performances and concerts. The Peruvian Pan flute has a distinctive sound that is instantly recognizable, and it continues to be an essential part of Peruvian music and culture.

Today, the Pan flute continues to be cherished and played by musicians, not only in Peru but also in various other countries, as a testament to the enduring beauty and cultural significance of this ancient instrument.

On this series of recordings, we are proud to host Peruvian Maestro Musican Kike Pinto. Kike Migrated as child from the Andes to Lima City, Peru, and spent his life’s work traveling through the Andes and Amazonian range studying the origins of its musical languages, instruments, vocals and sounds in order to create and compose his own music and songs. He owns one of largest collections of indigenous flutes and instruments of the region and has been a true ambassador of the native music of Peru, and the andes.
