Cinematic Composing I'm A Composer TUTORiAL

Clearly, there's way, WAY MORE to being a composer than just having a whole bunch of sample libraries and a DAW to trigger them with!

No matter how much you've spent setting up your system, and how cutting edge your sample libraries might be, just having the right 'tools' won't get you very far.

You need to know what to do with those 'tools' to achieve deliver great musical cues. And let's face it, a composer can be asked to produce cues for a very wide range of scenes. Anything from 'gentle romantic' to 'magical fantasy' or 'suspense' all the way to ''high-intensity action”.

Where do we go to learn how to compose in all these styles?

Write The World

Our composition course is designed to give you a 'professional level' knowledge of exactly how to successfully produce tracks in any of the styles that may be required of you.

It moves through each of the 'styles' explaining the scales, modes, and harmonic structures you'll need. The types of melodies that work best and even how to orchestrate your ideas to bring the whole thing together.

It really is a 'one-stop shop' to all you need to know about actually composing for film and video games.

Meet your trainer

What You'll Learn

1. Love makes the world go 'round.
Everyone loves a good 'love' cue and as 'schmaltzy as they are, they are a 'bread and butter' style for composers to be able to produce.

2. Ever Cried in a Movie?
Come on... Of course, you have. Even just a little bit. There are few things more powerful than a well-crafted scene that has a musical cue that tears at your heartstrings.

3. Oh, come on, what the heck is behind that locked door?
'Edge of the seat' scenes absolutely need a supportive cue to maximize the tension. Learn how to write it here!

4. Run ... Run... Look out they're right behind you!
Action cues can be tricky but when you get it right it's so satisfying. You'll be looking at both mid-intensity and hi-intensity action here.

5. There is something going on.. do you feel it?
Slow drama is a style that you'll absolutely need to know. It may not be quite as exhilarating to
compose but it is essential and satisfying to get it right.

6. Otherworldly creatures and amazing adventures.
Some of the biggest movie successes in modern times have relied heavily on magical, fantasy or supernatural themes. It seems we never tire of the 'incredible'.

7. Is it a Bird?
Adventure hero and villain scenes are super important to get right. They support the character and make them larger than life whether for good or evil.

8. Light and Dark but maybe not too heavy
You'll learn the differences between romantic comedy and dark comedy and learn how to compose for both.

9. Bang Bang Boom!!
Discover how to blow your audience away with your cutting-edge trailer cues. You'll need to turn things up for this!

10. Great Job Team!!
Learn how to compose and produce the sort of tracks that big corporates love to proclaim their successes and to inspire their teams and customers.
