Join the king of the underground hit Piero Pirupa for a masterclass in tech-house production as he turns a blank session into a mixed and mastered track ready for the dancefloor. Using Ableton Live, the internationally renowned DJ and producer weaves his magic across every aspect of music production for over two hours, giving you indispensable insights that you can take into your own projects.

The electronic music industry is saturated with talent, which is part of the reason why it’s so difficult to reach the top. Piero Pirupa makes it look easy, scoring multiple Beatport No.1’s spread out over a 13 year period. His first, Sweet Devil, came in 2009, and in 2022 he proved his longevity by hitting the heights again with the Pink Floyd-sampling We Don’t Need. Along the way, Pirupa has released on the likes of Universal/Island, Spinnin’ Records, Defected and Toolroom, and played at some of the most prestigious clubs and festivals in the world, including Space, Ministry of Sound, Pacha, Sonar and Surround Festival.

This course is your chance to watch a 20-year industry veteran exercising his ear for what works on the dancefloor and what doesn’t. Piero auditions loops from his personal library of sounds and effortlessly builds out each part of the track one by one into an eight-bar loop. From there, he shows off his arrangement chops by sectioning out the full track with the loops and using a variety of techniques like high-pass filtering, track muting, drum fills and riser FX to create dancefloor-friendly transitions and drops.

Throughout the course of his long career Piero has gathered an array of software tools that enable him to create the sounds that he hears in his head. In this course you’ll see him put them to use in the mix, whether it’s using sidechaining plugins to let an instrument breathe, ramping up the reverb and delay in a build, or applying a mastering chain to make sure the track is ready to be played out at a club.

All in all, there are ten chapters in this course that cover the full journey of the track, from drum programming to mixing and mastering.
