It's a genre that's gotten broader in scope over the last decade as boundary-breaking producers and artists have skilfully weaved in more and more influences. It's a sound that borrows heavily from the darker side of 2-Step and the sonic developments of dubstep. Future Garage eschewed dubstep's wobble-bass obsession and instead drew inspiration from Detroit techno, dub and other electronic genres, taking things away from the club environment and often pursuing a more introverted, mournful aesthetic.
